Grant Process

 

Step 1:

 

Before applying, we ask that applicants self-evaluate whether they are experiencing dire financial emergencies that could/will result in displacement from ones home, and make space for those most urgently in need.

Apply during HSH’s application window - listed on the website. Allow 3-7 business days for processing.

Eligibility

  • An applicant may become eligible for HSH grant assistance by experiencing:

    • Pandemic-induced unemployment

      • Unemployment caused by a pandemic can take the form of (a) losing one’s income due to physically contracting the virus and are unable to work or (b) losing one’s income due to the closure of your place of employment due to the pandemic. 

    • Predatory lending

    • Racial gentrification

    • Economic downturn for those highly disproportionately impacted communities

  • If your monthly individual income is 135% of your rent/mortgage (Combined household income is 155% of your rent/mortgage).

  • Please note that we will be reviewing all assets and liabilities.

If your preliminary grant application is reviewed and denied you will be notified by email with reasoning as to why.

 

Step 2:

 

If your preliminary grant application is reviewed and accepted to the second step of the application process, you will be notified by email and directed to our client portal where you will be required to create a login.

Note: You will only be directed to our client portal if your preliminary application is approved.

Within the client portal you will be required to fill out an in depth application and submit supporting documentation within 7-10 business days.

Once your grant application is reviewed you will be notified as to the determination within 5 business days of receiving your completed application.

 

Step 3:

 

If your grant application is accepted, you will receive an email outlining HSH services.

If your grant application is denied, you will receive an email notifying you of the reason of denial.
